The Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley has been awarded a $40,000.00 grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. This grant will enable the non-profit to expand and improve programming around the principles of education equity, justice, improving police community relations, diversity, and inclusion including a thorough assessment of all existing programs.
“We’re thrilled to receive this support for the Silicon Valley Community Foundation which will allow us to continue enforcing our mission ideals holistically and meaningfully through all of our outreach and programming,” said Darrell Cortez, executive director. “We have made a commitment to becoming a relational policing model which involves an active and intentional effort to rectify the wrongs of our collective history. This grant will provide the capacity to ensure our work continues to take meaningful steps forward to achieving this goal.”
The Shop with a Cop Strong Communities capacity building grant program helps address nonprofit partner needs that have come to the forefront amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and national unrest surrounding racial injustice. Shop with a Cop SV has identified enhanced resiliency and equity as priority needs during uncertain times. This grant will enable the foundation to expand its impact through culturally-informed and responsive programming, diverse community engagement, and more.
